The story opens with a seemingly open-and-shut case of multiple murder when an army veteran storms into a school and kills two students. Even though Rebus is up to his neck in troubles of his own, he's brought in to solve the mystery of why Herdman committed these heinous acts. Nothing is ever as it seems. As we follow Rebus down the rabbit hole, the situation grows as murky as the skies over Edinburgh. All in all, an enjoyable ride!
